User requested Registry information to repoint user to a new SELECTserver deployment

User’s question: I need to migrate many users to a new SELECTserver.  Is there a registry setting that I can change
remotely to repoint a user to a new SELECTserver?

Do to the complexity of the registry, and where we store settings based on the users rights (admin or not) and the user access control level, UAC and what operating system your running on and whether or not that OS is 32 bit or 64 bit makes this impractical to support. We do not recommend to configure systems with a scrip or to push a registry settings to a accomplish this. Group policies are the industry standard for this type of thing, mass
deployments is the reason why Microsoft created them and is why we chose to implement support for them. Please refer to link below detail  explanation on using group policy and information on using AD GPO to Configure Licensing for users centrally.

To add to John's comment the issue here is really activation. The activation proces is a constant one where the License Management Tool (LMT) communicates with the identified server and by it's design updates the proper registry keys. When the License Management Tool (LMT) is open under the TOOLS > OPTIONS menu is a designation of the following.

    SERVER NAME
    ACTIVATION KEY

Applying the appropriate server name here will update the registy. The Group policy settings do not actually activate the client machines. The sole purpose of group policies is to centralize and standardize the settings for a particular application. In Bentley Licensing this would be the Activation Key, Server Name and Proxy Settings.  Each product is Activated every time the user runs the application. Permissions required to activate the product depend on if the user has Admin rights or not. requested information. with the Group Policy in place this information will be provided to the cleint when requested.
