We want to switch to a new SELECTserver. The following two questions have arisen.
1.) On the new Server we configured the SELECTServer Web services on IP port 81. To open the SELECTserver managed sites web site we have

RE: Running SELECTserver on a different Port in IIS

Thank you.

Re: Running SELECTserver on a different Port in IIS

You are correct. With the website being on a different PORT (81) all communications must be directed to that port. We are only able to get away without defining the port because 80 is the default port and it will look on that port when the port is NOT defined. So the Admin page will display as in the attached image IE_image_2. to a server named White-Server.

IE_image_2.

The clients will also need to define the port as in LMT_image_3 (attached) for the server White-Server.

LMT_image_3

All normal client server communications will now take place on the defined port.

Just to finish out the conversation. The SELECTserver Gateway is considered a client to the SELECTserver application and will require the same configuration in it's License Management Tool (LMT). Communications between legacy clients (MicroStation J, MicroStation 2004 and the like) will continue normal on port 3998 (unaffected by the change because they do not talk to the (server directly.) The piece that does communicate directly (SELECTserver Gateway) has been rerouted to the proper port (81 for this example) so all clients will be functional.
