Hi,
I've seen multiple discussions about license overages and trusted licensing. Has anyone thought of or developed a Windows script that would log each time Microstation is opened to a local database. Then before the script would open Microstation (or the appropriate Bentley application), it would check the local database and warn you if it's been opened on too many machines in the last hour?

I've thought about developing something like this, but have not done anything as of yet. The easy part is an app/script that checks a central folder or database for the licenses in use. When exiting MicroStation you can also have the app remove the usage record from the pool.
It gets complicated in a hurry when you try to factor in crashes to the pc or MicroStation where the program does not exit gracefully to remove the usage record. Another issue that could be difficult is how to handle verticals that are loaded by running an "MDL LOAD" command in MicroStation.
