Hi,
I've seen multiple discussions about license overages and trusted licensing. Has anyone thought of or developed a Windows script that would log each time Microstation is opened to a local database. Then before the script would open Microstation (or the appropriate Bentley application), it would check the local database and warn you if it's been opened on too many machines in the last hour?

We are also looking into this right now. I want the ability to reject usage.
We have a call into our IT people as well.
Anybody found a solution yet?
I've been investigating some of the commercially available licensing management tools. Most are rather expensive and all would require a fair bit of customization in MicroStation and the other Bentley tools to interface. I've got most of the issues worked out in developing a custom license management tool. I'm close to starting the actual development, but want to exhaust all of the other possibilities first.

Why doesnt' Bentley offer us the ability to control our licenses? Why should we spend time and $ to come up with a workaround?
You could use this option "Restrict Usage to only checked out licenses" to limit over use - communities.bentley.com/.../13916.how-do-i-restrict-license-usage-to-checkouts-only.aspx
Additionally what is needed then is a shortcut to licensecmd tool for checking in all licenses and some messaging application(skype?) for users to call if license should be freed. Of course then there are no advantages as SELECT "Trusted usage" but at least it gives some control and feel of how many licenses are needed.
