Usage restrictions possible after all?

Question

Probably it is possible to restrict usage without third party software after all. 
 Select Server has these settings on the first page. Now if one would check both of them below and enter a max number of licenses to be able to checkout, wouldn't that solve the problem? 
 One thing left is that I don't know how SelectServer deals with multiple checkouts during the same hour.

Hi, 
 Each license is "in use" during the entire time that it is checked out. The usage would be counted the same way that a non-checked out license would be counted--so turning the license in at 8:01 and checking it out at 8:59 would count as two usages--if my understanding is correct.

 Theoretically this should work. The idea is to have a separate/custom license per computer, and to let that license work on a certain machine name or IP address only. I used Custom Activation Groups, Check-out restriction, and Client Access Restriction altogether for this. 
 Go to Custom Activation Groups, add a new group. Enter the Group name, description, and save the custom Activation Key (starts with VS- &hellip;). Put a check on &ldquo;Restrict the application available to this group&hellip;&rdquo; and then select the applications you want that particular group to use (say microstation). Click save. 
 Go to Checkout Restrictions. Under the Select a Site to Configure (right side of window), select the Custom Group you just created . You can see in there the products that you want this particular group to use (microstation only in this case). Under Restrictions, change the number to 1 so that this group can only use one license. 
 Go to Client Access restriction. Under the Select a Site to Configure (right side of window), select the Custom Group you just created . Click Access Restrictions Enabled. Click Add New Restrictions. Enter the machine name where you would like to use this license to. Click Save. Selectserver will not allow access to any machine except for the machine bearing this name. If you are under deployed, you can use internal ip range or machine name. If you are under hosted, I would recommend using the machine name. 
 So, all is set. All you have to do is give that Custom Activation Key to the machine that you entered in the third step. Use the Custom Activation Key in lieu of using your Site Activation Key. 
 Do the same steps on every machine.
