Background

CONNECT Advisor is a new service that will help deliver Adaptive Learning Services and is designed to provide in-application contextual assistance, including recommendations, short feature and workflow videos and personalized learning paths and knowledge maps. CONNECT Advisor will increasingly leverage Azure-based machine learning, to further personalize its assistance for each Connected User.

Based on the principles of Search, Browse and Feed, it simultaneously searches and retrieves product-specific content from:

  • Bentley LearnServer
  • Bentley Communities
  • YouTube channel(s) 
  • Product documentation

In addition, it also retrieves and displays:

  • Events Calendar
  • Bentley News and Announcements.

It then provides the aggregated information logically in a single location.

Update

If a user has an older version of CONNECT Advisor, they will be notified of the updated version availability through the CONNECTION Client and install it from there. Get additional information on how to update by referring to the CONNECTION Client help section.

Alternatively, follow the process documented in the “Download” section below.

Download

User can also download CONNECT Advisor V8i from the Fulfilment Center. Please follow these steps to download:

  1. Go to http://select.bentley.com/FulfillmentCenter/ and log in.
    NOTE - If user redirected to a page for downloading free Bentley iWare and Bentley Apps instead of what is described below, you do not have download rights for the Fulfillment Center.  Contact site administrator for Bentley products to request download rights. The site administrator is an employee of user company, not Bentley Systems.
  2. In the search box, enter "CONNECT Advisor" and press Enter. See image below. 



    Or can select the Brand & choose Bentley Cloud Services, like described below. 

  3. Select the All Downloads link under CONNECT Advisor.



  4. Download the latest version by selecting the green download button next to “Bentley CONNECT Advisor (English) 32-bit”.

Installation

  1. Run the downloaded executable file.



  2. In the installation wizard, select the Bentley product(s) with which to integrate CONNECT Advisor.

  3. The installer will install .NET Framework 4.5.1 if it is not installed.
  4. The installer will install the latest CONNECTION Client if not installed.
  5. To use CONNECT Advisor, select the CONNECT Advisor button from within the integrated software



  6. If this button is not visible, enable it by selecting Tools > Tool Boxes (CTRL+T) and setting the check box for CONNECT Advisor. See Image below.

Manual configuration

The alternative installation method is to follow the manual integration method described in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Bentley Shared\CONNECT Advisor\mdlapps\ReadMe.txt
