    Installation - Silent

    What is the purpose of this information?

    This will provide all the information needed to configure a silent installation of the CONNECTION Client for those administrators who are looking to make the process less impactful.

    Silent Installation Options

    • Use the command blg64100019xxen.exe /q (replace xxx with the remaining version number)
    • blg64100019xxxen.exe /s  - Silent/headless install
    • blg64100019xxxen.exe NoStartPostInstall=1  - Don’t run CONNECTION Client or License Client after installation
    • blg64100019xxxen.exe InstallDesktopShortcut=0  - suppress desktop shortcut

    *Please note: When deploying CONNECTION Client using the local system account (such as with SCCM), include the NoStartPostInstall=1 argument to prevent an elevated instance of the Bentley Licensing Service from interfering with user licensing traffic.

    Silent Install with Language

    • Use the command blg64100019xxxen.exe BeBundleCulture=de /q to set the language of the installer interface
    • Use the command blg64100019xxxen.exe BeSelectedLanguage=de /q (example de=German language...replace xxx with version number) to install the CONNECTION Client language version

    Here's the full list:

    cs=Czech
    de=German
    es=Spanish
    fi=Finnish
    fr=French
    it=Italian
    ja=Japanese
    ko=Korean
    nl=Dutch
    pl=Polish
    pt-br=Portuguese
    ru=Russian
    tr=Turkish
    zh-cn=Simplified Chinese
    zh-tw=Traditional Chinese

    Managing the Application Update functionality

    The following parameters enable organizations to configure the Application Update functionality to best suit their needs.

    Silent Install with Preferences set

    *Please note: Implemented in CONNECTION Client 10.00.13.xx or later

    blg64100019xxxen.exe BeCheckUpdateOption=X - Replace X with options below

    • Download and Notify user = 0,
    • Notify user = 1,
    • No notifications = 3

    Silent Install with Updates disabled

    Use this option if you want to prevent users from seeing updates available under "Applications" but allow them to configure the "Updates" section of "Preferences" to receive the information (i.e. they can then alert their admin if they require the update, but do not have installation rights).
    blg64100019xxxen.exe BeCheckUpdateOption=3 /q

    Silent Install with Updates permanently disabled

    Use blg64100019xxxen.exe BeCheckUpdateOption=3 BeCheckUpdateIsEnabled=0 /q
    Use this option if you want to prevent users from seeing any updates available under "Applications" and disable the "Updates" option in "Preferences".

    Location in the registry is the UpdateClient value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bentley\BentleyDesktopClient\Install

    Change the values:

    • Keyname_CheckUpdateOption=3
    • Keyname_CheckUpdateIsEnabled=0

    Set the IMS federation domain hint manually

    *Please note: This should only be used if you're federating with IMS and the automatic domain detection is not picking up the domain that is listed in IMS. An example is that you sign in to the CONNECTION Client and are presented with a second sign in dialog

    blg64100018xxxen.exe SsoDomainHint=mydomain.com /q (change mydomain.com to your domain name)

    Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bentley\BentleyDesktopClient

    Managed Preference Settings

    *Please note: Implemented in CONNECTION Client 10.00.14.xx or later

    The following options can be specified in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Bentley\BentleyDesktopClient\Install by an administrator to mandate preference settings used by CONNECTION Client. These can be viewed by a user in the CONNECTION Client Preferences window, but they cannot be changed:

    • AutoLogin
    • MinimizeOnSignIn
    • ShowDesktopNotifications

    Each of the string values above can have a value of either True or False.
