Usage Alerting Service is Unavailable


Problem Description

Users receive the following error message:

Usage Alerting Service is Unavailable.
The CONNECT License Client is unable to determine the number of users currently using this application. Continued use may result in the use of a License above the limit set by your administrator.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Close any Bentley applications - if they're opened.
  2. Fully close CONNECTION Client, or
  3. Stop the Bentley Licensing Services:
    • Open Windows Task Manager (right-click on Taskbar, or Ctrl+Shift+Esc on keyboard).
    • In "Processes" tab, scroll down to "Background Processes" section.
    • Find "Bentley.Licensing.Service for Windows" process, right click on it > End task.
    • Find "Bentley.Connect.Client for Windows" process, right click on it > End task.
  4. Open CONNECTION Client - Windows Start button > type CONNECTION Client.
  5. If you are automatically signed in - please sign out of CONNECTION Client , then sign in again, otherwise, if you are prompted to sign in, just sign in.
