Problem
Error "Unable to add user as email domain is owned by a different organization" while registering the user in User Management.
Explanation
Users can only be associated to a single account. and they use their login to access the licensing associated to their account
Accounts have the ability to claim domains. This is done so new users will be properly associated with their account when they self-register (as opposed to being added to an account by an administrator) on the Bentley website.
A user may fail to be added to your account if the domain of the specified email address is claimed by a different account.
Solution
Adding an "Outside User"
If you are trying to add an outside user to your account, you should evaluate why you are doing so, and contact Bentley if you need additional guidance. If a user is removed from an existing account, they lose access to their account's licensing, and gain access to your account's licensing
Adding "Outside User" to Allow ProjectWise Access
You may have wanted to add outside users to your account to facilitate having the user access a ProjectWise data source using IMS Login.
If it is not possible to add the user to your domain, you may have to create the user an email address under your own domain to allow access.
Separate Accounts Sharing a Domain
If business entities share a common domain (this typically happens when you are affiliated to a global company that operates as separate distinct divisions), you may wish to contact them to determine if they should un-claim the domain to allow multiple accounts to co-exist with a different base of users with the same domain. If you are unable to contact the domain owner, you must contact Bentley to do so on your behalf; Due to the data protection/GDPR law Bentley cannot share contact details of the domain owner
