Connection Client

Following the directions, I have 44 users who have registered and logged in with Bentley Connect and are displayed in the User Management portion of the website. However, I continue to get angry correspondence that doom is a upon us as we have not successfully registered any users.

One such email listed logins based on machine ID and machine name. We didn't register that way. Are there steps missing from the Bentley_User_Registration_Administrators_Resource_Guide.pdf?

  • So my boss is still getting harassing emails about how we have failed to register our users. You said you would extend our deadline, but the email still says we will be cut off on Dec. 15. On December 6, I had a user log in to Connect and open Microstation. His computer showed up as connected today, a week later.

    I have followed the suggestion in another forum post to push out the logs manually. I did this for two users yesterday, as I didn't want to waste my time doing all 51 of my users if this method doesn't work. If I have to wait a week to see if this works, most of my users will be cut off from Bentley.

    1. Do we have any confirmation the log method works?

    2. Will my users really be cut off Friday despite all the money we have sent your way?

  • Hi - We have not sent out any additional emails about the cut-off dates so I am not sure what new emails you have received.  You and I had a private message going and I logged a Service Request for you so you can send me the emails you are referencing via either channel.  I will see if there was a mistake on our part in sending additional messages.

    I personally extended your date and I have verified it is still set that way so you should not be affected until that new date if your remaining users do not sign in. The 'Send log now' suggestion is valid.  It is not needed in most cases, but in the instances where someone states that they installed and *signed in* to the CONNECTION Client (yet the CONNECTED User report still says they have not done so a week later)  we are recommending to send the logs manually.

  • Looking at the email, it was in response to a ticket my boss started. Please PM me with the new date so I can assure my boss we won't be cut off Friday.

    I responded on the forum instead of PM as I believe other people are having this issue. In our case, it looks like the real issue is the directions don't specify what to do if you're not actively using Bentley. We don't currently have any jobs that require your software.

    Will my users be cut off if they aren't "connected" by the new deadline?

  • I have just sent you the date.  If an Organization received the email then that is the notification they need to proceed with the process, regardless if they are not currently using a Bentley application.  We certainly hope to avoid any deactivation of any account, but that will take place if the process is not completed. If there are issues along the way we are happy to help.

  • So the new and improved scheme appears to be working! To others who are not actively using Bentley, open licensemanager.exe and manually send the logs.
