Background Intelligent Transfer Service

Can anyone explain this? The service is running but Connection client fails update telling me it is not started.

Really guys, if you are going to force us to use this client app, you've got to do a better job of making it work well in an unobtrusive manner.

  • Start or Restart BITS Service Windows 10. The steps include:

    • Press Windows + R key
    • type services.msc
    • Press enter key to open Windows services
    • Scroll down to look for Background Intelligent Transfer Service
    • If this service is Running simply Right-click on it and select Restart

    This will likely Restart the BITS service and fix in case the service is stuck simply because of any reason.

    In case the service doesn’t start then double-click on it

    • A new popup under general tab change the (startup type - Automatic)
    • click on the start button the service next to service status - ok

     If still the same issue persists you can take help of this guide on how to fix background intelligent transfer service (bits) to solve the issue. You can do it either via troubleshooter or by using System File Checker (Sfc) and DISM or either by manual update
