CONNECTION Client continually pops up every time I log in

Hello,

I work in the IT Department and we have ProjectWise, along with a few other Bentley programs, installed. I know Connection Client is used to activate the programs, but every time I, along with some other users log in, the Connection client pops up. We have the settings checked to automatically sign us in and to minimize the connection client after sign in, yet it still pops up. Is there a way to prevent this from popping up whenever we log in?

Thank you

  • Hi Brian,

Welcome to the frustrations of the Connection Client.  Some of us have personal computers at home or personal laptops that we use OCCASIONALLY for Bentley products, and we have to deal with the Connection Client on a daily basis...

Connection Client is based on "Internet Explorer" instead of being a stand-alone product.  That means that you get to deal with any Connection Client issues and with any Internet Explorer issues.  The passwords being stored (and forgotten) have been blamed on Internet Explorer.  When Internet Explorer does not do everything correctly, you get the dialog box popping up, asking for user input.

Personally, it seems like Bentley should actually program things like the Connection Client based on their own software.  Instead they base it on someone else's software (often Microsoft) and then do the blame-game.  The real bottom line is that if things were done right in the first place, there would not be anything to complain about., or if there was, Bentley could fix it.
