Dear Valued Bentley User,
To ensure all Bentley applications are maintained with the highest security standards, Bentley’s IMS certification will rotate at 10:00AM EST on November 11, 2023. To avoid any disruptions in your work, all Bentley users, including CONNECTION Client users, should log out and log back into their applications after 10:00AM EST on November 11, 2023. Below, we’ve assembled this comprehensive FAQ to help answer any questions you may have.
If any issues persist beyond a single reauthentication, please contact Bentley Support for assistance.
What is the IMS Signing Certificate?
The IMS signing certificate is used to digitally sign tokens and certain responses issued by IMS. An application will store the fingerprint (hash) of the certificate and ensure that the fingerprint from the token/response matches the expected fingerprint in the application. This allows the application to validate that the token/response is actually from IMS.
When is the certificate being rotated?
IMS certificate rotation takes place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM EST.
Who does this impact?
This impacts all Bentley application users, including CONNECTION Client users. Users who maintain a token with WS-Fed or SAML based applications will have to reauthenticate following the certificate rotation. This includes CONNECTION Client. Users only need to reauthenticate once. If any issues persist beyond a single reauthentication, they should submit a ticket for further support.
What if the application uses OIDC?
OIDC applications are not impacted at all during this rotation.
