MicroStation Basics for New Users - Chapter 5: Creating Basic Drawing Elements
One of the many drawing tools of MicroStation is a SmartLine. SmartLine is a composite drawing tool allowing you to place a line, line string, shape, or arc, or combinations of these. After watching this video you will be able to use SmartLine to draw composite and complex geometry.
One of the basic drawing tools is the Place Block tool, where you can place a rectangular shapes. After watching this video you will be able to place an orthogonal or rotated block.
The Place Circle tool is used to create circles. After watching this video you will be able to place circles in a variety of methods using center, edge and diameter placement.
Arcs are a basic drawing tool, required for all types of drawings. The Place Arc tool creates circular arcs. After watching this video you be able to draw arcs from a variety of methods and place them clockwise or counterclockwise.
Complex chains and complex shapes are made from a grouping of multiple elements that is manipulated as a single entity. After watching this video you will be able to create complex closed elements as well as an open chains, made up of lines and line strings. In addition you will be able to drop or explode these grouped elements to their original components.
In many cases existing elements need to be turned into complex shapes. This helps optimize the data within the model. After watching this video you will be able to use the Create Region tool and its options to create complex shapes.
