1 Select Elements with Element Selection

As geometry is drawn, elements will need to be manipulated, often with multiple elements selected for a group action to be executed. A collection of selected elements is called a selection set. After watching this video you will be able to use various methods to select elements as selection sets.

2 Manipulating Multiple Elements

MicroStation allows for various manipulation tools, and is very flexible in the command order. You can either select the elements first, or select the tool manipulation tool first. In this video you will learn both methods and understand where and when to use them to quickly manipulate one or more elements in your design.

3 Select Elements with a Fence

Another method of selecting elements is a fence. A fence can be defined that can be used to void or exclude elements inside or overlapping the boundary. It can also clip elements that cross the fence boundary. Fences can also be saved for use later. After watching this video you be able to select a variety of elements using a fence, and understand the methods of placing a fence and the fence modes that aid in selection of elements.

4 Select Elements by Attributes

In addition to manually selecting elements or using a fence, you can also select elements in a model by their attributes such as color, style, level, and weight. In this video you will learn how to select elements for use based on their various attributes.
