MicroStation Basics for New Users - Chapter 8: Modifying Elements
Modify Element is a multi-purpose modification tool that is used to change the spatial coordinates of an element's geometry. After completion of this video you will move a vertex of a line, string or shape, resize shapes and adjust an arcs radius.
It can be beneficial to insert or remove a vertex in element. After watching this video you will be able to use both the Insert and Delete Vertex tools on open and closed geometry.
As geometry is created, shapes and linework occasionally need to be broken into multiple pieces. The Break Element tool can be used to remove unwanted portions of elements. After watching this video you will be able to use the various break options interactively by points, lines, or using existing elements.
Geometry needs to be trimmed in numerous ways. One way is to clean up an intersection between two lines. After watching this video you will be able to use the Trim to Intersection tool to extend or shorten two open elements to their intersection.
The Trim to Element tool lets you trim or extend an element (or multiple elements simultaneously) to their intersection with another element (in one direction). This is yet another modification tool that you will need. After watching this video you will know how to extend elements selecting the portions of the elements you want to keep.
Trim Multiple allows you to trim and extend one or more elements simultaneously to their intersection with another element. This can be done using the options for Trim and Extend, Trim, or Extend. In this video you will learn how much more flexible this tool can be than other Trim tools.
The Extend Line tool lets you extend or shorten a line dynamically or by defining a positive or negative distance. After watching this video you will know how to extend or shorten linework to produce the most accurate drawing as possible.
A common tool required in any design is being able to place a circular fillet or line chamfer. After watching this video you will be able to use the Construct Fillet and Construct Chamfer tools to adjust existing geometry.
