MicroStation Basics for New Users - Chapter 9: Working with Cells

1 Place Cells

Cells are complex elements that represent objects or symbols you use regularly in your designs. Cells can be created from any combination of elements and are stored in an external cell library file. After watching this video you will be able to easily attach a cell library, and place cells into the design.

2 Line Terminators

Cells can also be used as a line terminator, automatically placed at the end point of, and aligned with, a selected element. This type of placement is needed when placing arrowheads, valves, break markers, etc. After watching this video you will be able to select a cell and place it as a line terminator.

3 Create Cells

Projects may require custom cells be created for that particular project. You can create cells, storing them in a new or an existing cell library. After watching this video you will be able to attach the correct cell library, select the elements to be included in a cell, define a cell origin (point of placement), and create the cell in a library.

4 Edit Cells

After a cell is placed, it is a common to need to change the properties of a cell or even the geometry of the cell itself. In this video you will learn how to edit the geometry of an existing cell.

5 Replace Cells

As cells are edited or changed, older cells already placed need to be updated as well. After watching this video you will be able to replace cells with other cells, updating cells individually or globally.
