MicroStation Basics for New Users - Chapter 10: Annotating Designs
Annotation is one of the key things needed for any plan set. After watching this video you will be able to place basic text, single or multi-line, while using a text style to enforce your CAD standards.
MicroStation offers different text placement methods. After watching this video you will be able to place text, By Origin, On Element, Along Element and Above or Below Element.
It is important for text, dimensions, cells, hatching/patterning etc. to be placed relative to the sheet size and scale. In MicroStation, these elements can be placed to conform to Annotation scale.
Annotation Scale is an optional scale factor that can be applied to annotatable elements such as text to adjust their size according to the print scale. After watching this video you will know how to apply Annotation Scale to a model.
As text is placed, it will at some point need to be updated. After watching this video you will be able to use the Edit Text tool to edit existing text. In addition to changing the text content, you will also learn to change the text style and a variety of text attributes.
MicroStation has many dimensioning tools. Additionally, a large number of dimension attributes defines the appearance of dimensions. After watching this video you will know how to dimension elements using a variety of dimension tools using a predefined dimension style.
It is possible to edit dimension text or change appearance of existing dimensions by applying a different dimension style. You can even modify the geometry of a dimension element by moving the dimension line, extension line, and text, or by adding, moving, or removing extension lines.
After watching this view you will be able to edit dimensions and change dimensions as needed.
An area can be delineated by using hatching , crosshatching and patterning, collectively referred to as "Patterns" in MicroStation. After watching the video you will be able to use hatching, crosshatching and patterning in a variety of ways.
Once placed, patterns may need to be edited. Change Pattern allows you to do so. After watching this video you will be able to change hatch, crosshatch or pattern color, style and weight along with pattern angle, scale, or reflood pattern areas.
