How can I automate the clients name so all sheets are updated?

So this is what the sheets look like automatically, I am assuming these are created and provided by FDOT. Seeing as the entire sheet border is a cell all together with text and all, could we not automate the "STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION" to say something else?? My company uses these borders but we hardly do any work for FDOT directly. I'm sure with a few edits, it can be automated in the same way that the county and FPID sections are when you create a project in the properties of the entire project. I guess I just need help finding where this cell is in my files so that I can create a new one.

Also, when I ask OpenRoads quesetions, is this the right place to do it?

Thanks,

Harvey.

  • Are you selecting FDOT Sheet Seeds when creating sheets? If you open the DGNLIB containing the sheets, you should see the cell being used. Modifying Sheet Seeds may be tricky. I've watched their creation but never created any myself. You might be able to edit the text in the cells without any adverse effects, I would copy the FDOT Sheet Seeds, make my edits and then try creating the sheets using the copied sheet seeds. You probably need two workspaces or worksets that use different sheet seed dgnlibs as the list of sheet seeds would contain duplicate names if both versions were loaded. I do not know what the result would be if both were loaded in one workkspace/workset.

  • I believe I am. I am not sure as I don't get an option to select the sheet seeds like you are saying. I'm assuming with the way my ORD is setup, it selects the FDOT sheet seeds automatically.

  • This is driven by the Workspace/Workset. There are variables defined that direct the software to the DGNLIB's that provide the Sheet Seeds. If you need to occasionally use the FDOT Workspace, you would want to make a copy of the workspace and configure ORD to see both your version and the FDOT Version and then you can modify your version to fit your needs. I set up a similar environment at two previous employers for the MD DOT SHA V8i Workspace that permitted a company version of the workspace or the standard DOT workspace. It can be done butit will take some understanding of how workspaces function.
