Issues generating existing curb and gutter

I am working on placing the existing curb and gutter in my existing features file, and I have run into a snag. I am not able to get the 3D Existing Curb Feature to work. I can place the linear template, and I see a corridor generated in the plan view, but nothing happens in the 3D view. I have followed the steps outlined in the related webinar and in the FDOT Roadway Design and 3D Modeling handbook, but when I try to set the Feature Definition to "Pavement Existing," nothing happens. I am able to click through the dialog and I don't get any errors, but the line style doesn't change. I'm not sure if this is causing the problem, but it's another issue I noticed during this process.

Any idea why this would be happening?

Thanks!

  • I've had an occasional problem with that too, and I'm still learning Corridor Modeling. I'll be able to get one of my colleagues who is better at Corridor Modeling to get together with us tomorrow on a GoToMeeting and we'll figure that one out too. Shoot me an email and let me know what time tomorrow works for you.

    Thanks!

  • Just be sure to check the bottom right point on the curb existing template and be sure to

    1. Check the Horizontal Feature Constraint box

    2. Set the Feature to PavementExisting

    3. Set the range to 2 feet

I have attached a quick video to help with the steps

This has been set for the current FDOTSS4.itl file.

  • NOTE:   In the video I omitted a step to "Synchronize" the template in the Library with the linear templates in the file.

1, Select the Template boundary element and hover over the line

    2. When the context menu appears choose the icon :Synchronize with Library"

  • Im having the same problem with the 3D curb not being able to extend from the back of curb line to the edge of pavement. I have looked and your videos and did what you did but still no luck. i feel that maybe feature definition on my lines were not done correctly so i wanted to get your input on how to properly define the feature of a line. I have followed the user training manual on how to do this but it seems that only one of my lines has a feature but when i hover the cursor on the top of the line, it does not show me what feature it is. Any help would be appreciated
