Issues generating existing curb and gutter

I am working on placing the existing curb and gutter in my existing features file, and I have run into a snag. I am not able to get the 3D Existing Curb Feature to work. I can place the linear template, and I see a corridor generated in the plan view, but nothing happens in the 3D view. I have followed the steps outlined in the related webinar and in the FDOT Roadway Design and 3D Modeling handbook, but when I try to set the Feature Definition to "Pavement Existing," nothing happens. I am able to click through the dialog and I don't get any errors, but the line style doesn't change. I'm not sure if this is causing the problem, but it's another issue I noticed during this process.

Any idea why this would be happening?

Thanks!

  • Haley,

This is a known bug. You need to uncheck the "Use Feature Name Override" on each of the points in the Template using the Template editor. This will be corrected in the next release of the FDOT software. If you need assistance with this, please send me an email at matt.sexton@dot.state.fl.us and I'll be glad to do a GoToMeeting.

  • Is your corridor on in your project explorer? or get out of the file and then go back in or hit the process corridor
  • This worked so that I could see the curb placed in the 3D view. I'm now having issues adding the corridor reference to make it flush with the EOP. Is this a related issue?
  • I've had an occasional problem with that too, and I'm still learning Corridor Modeling. I'll be able to get one of my colleagues who is better at Corridor Modeling to get together with us tomorrow on a GoToMeeting and we'll figure that one out too. Shoot me an email and let me know what time tomorrow works for you.

    Thanks!

  • Just be sure to check the bottom right point on the curb existing template and be sure to

    1. Check the Horizontal Feature Constraint box

    2. Set the Feature to PavementExisting

    3. Set the range to 2 feet

I have attached a quick video to help with the steps

This has been set for the current FDOTSS4.itl file.
