ProjectWise

I am new to ProjectWise. I have done my design on my network drive, I previously uploaded the files to ProjectWise. I kept working on my network and what I was doing is deleting the files in ProjectWise and then uploading the new version but then everybody that was referencing lost their link. Also there are 3 copies of the same file but different versions, one on my network, another in ProjectWise

And another in the temp that ProjectWise creates. Does anybody have an advise?

The latest files are on my network.

  • In our ProjectWise environment we find it to be the best practice to create all of the files in ProjectWise. If we want to work on any of the files on our network we then export a managed copy to the network. This way we always know which file is the most current (the one in PW), and multiple users are not making changes to the same file at once. I would import the most up-to-date version to PW, delete the local copy or move it to a record folder, and advise staff to always use a managed export of the PW file if work is to be done outside of the PW environment. When you import the file back into PW from your network, it will leave a copy on your network. We usually move it to a record folder or delete it depending on what we changed in the file during the process.
