Hatching Issue using Civil Tools

I have drawn up my roadway design in 2D using only civil tools and would like to draw a shape in here to designate the area of widening. The problem I am having is that the hatching flood tool is picking up the full length of my Civil Elements as opposed to the trimmed intervals, resulting in the this hatch shape that does not continue the shape down the sidestreet.

I almost always extend my EOP lines into the middle of the intersection so that I can be sure to have the full lengths of my curb and sidewalk available. Ideally this tool would not pick up on the full element, but that is not the case. I have had this issue before with the edges of rasters causing the shape to stop, even though the rasters were off. Is there some setting I can tweak to make this shape fill properly?

Thanks

  • I figured something out. I always have all my widening/milling shapes in another model within the DSGNRD01. So I just used NonPlotting element to do some single offset partials over all my EOP lines. Could be time consuming if you have a lot of lines, but atleast I know it will be dynamic if I change the design.

When I am done, I just turn off the EOP lines and make my shapes. Not ideal, but it works. Now if we could just get dynamic fill shapes...

  • Have you tried making Selection Sets out of the boundary elements? It helps eliminate the need for turning off levels and reference files. I also had issues where the flood command found elements from a clipped reference file. Using the Selection Set took care of that problem too.

  • I will give the Selection Set a try, but i am wondering if I am going to have the same issue with it picking up the fully element. My solution worked pretty well, and using Civil Elements will save me if my design changes a bit.

    Thanks for the input
