Assigning Pay Items to Pavement Markings

I was able to assign item types to the roadway items, but I don't see item types for pavement markings and signs on the Pick List. I know that you could use the two tools under OpenRoads Modeling > FDOT > Traffic Plans to create pavement markings and signs that already have their corresponding PayItemNumeber. However, the project's design file and pavement marking & signing file were created in SS10 and we want use Takeoff Manager in OpenRoads to get our quantities (the project was started in SS10 and we want to finish it in ORD, if possible). Is there a way to assign pavement marking item type to elements?

  • Cristhian,

The general rule is that any project that starts design in SS10 should be completed in SS10.  If you absolutely must convert to ORD, you will have to redraw the linework in ORD (which is why it's not recommended).  The easiest way to do that would be to reference your SS10 file and use a zero offset to place your pavement markings with the ORD tools in your new ORD traffic plans files.  The traffic plans training guide for ORD is available here: https://www.fdot.gov/cadd/downloads/documentation/fdotconnecttraining/fdotconnect-traffic-plans

Note that Item Types for Traffic Plans are not stored in the same way as they are for Roadway elements.  The ORD Traffic Tools creates the Item Types as they are placed.
