FDOT Connect 10.10.01.00 and ORD 10.10.21.04 Issues V2

I am recreating this from my previous thread that got a little off the original topic.

I installed the latest updates last week and have been having quite a few issues with slow performance. All of the files I am working with have been updated along the way from as early as 10.07, which could be part of the issue. I was having no issues with ORD 10.10.01.03 and FDOT Connect 10.10.00.01 (other than some minor issues with dark mode) and have since reverted back to these versions until I can determine a solution.

The following hang-ups are occurring:

  • When opening a file, I can see everything has loaded, but the program continues to hang for 30 seconds or more before becoming usable. Even after, the first few things I try to do encounter hang-ups.
  • Switching between Views that show different models. For example, a 4 view setup with Default, Default 3D, a profile view, and an XS view. Every time I click to a new view, the program hangs for 5-10 seconds.
  • Using the Cross Section Navigator. Several minutes to actually get it loaded. About 30 seconds or more to flip to the next section.

I have tried compressing files to no avail. I work on local files, typically on my OneDrive files that are on my E Drive. I tried copying to my C drive and there was no improvement. Both of these drives are NVME drives. All of these issues are also occurring on my virtual machine, so it’s not just my home computer.

Then I decided to try to open my files without the workspace. I just right clicked one of my files and hit open. NONE of the issues above were occurring. However, the following was still an issue:

  • Slow undo in some files. Seems to mostly be related to files with Civil Labeler labels in them.
    • Slow undo is also present in 10.10.01.03

  • Matt Sexton had me check to see if the Default workspace was behaving in the same way. When I right-click and open that same file, it loads in the default workspace and everything is fine BECAUSE Explorer does NOT open by default in the Default workspace. Once I open Explorer, I start seeing the same issues. 

    So it seems the issue is most likely not related to the FDOT workspace, but rather something in ORD. I will most likely need to put in a ticket with Bentley, but for the time being, try to keep Explorer closed unless you need it.

  • We have modified the FDOT workspace for the next release. By default, those windows will not be open, so it will behave like the default workspace in that regard and effectively remedy the issue until further enhancements by Bentley increase the performance of those dialogs.

  • Thanks Matt. I will put in a ticket with Bentley about this. 

    I need to check and see if Slow Undo is related to this...be nice to kill two birds with one stone. Either way, they gotta fix that Explorer bug.
