============================

The primary error is the first kernel32 error. Not sure if the font errors are related. Other users also get font errors, but a different set of fonts. Font list is abridged for brevity.

PowerGEOPAK 9.722 - SS3 Workstation 01.01.01

Kernel32 error occurs in all files for one particular user. Other users don't aren't getting the error. Occurs for all user profiles on that particular pc. Occurs on a blank test file on the C: drive. Does not occur in just PowerGEOPAK w/o the bar menu. Occurs initially on file open before any user activity, then will routinely occur when selecting Set Plot Scale on bar menu. Set Plot Scale dialog windows does not display. Has not been observed to occur for any other bar menu choice.

Did repair/install of SS3 and pgpk which produced no affect.

Any help, clues, resolution, etc. would be appreciated.

  • The kernal error does not have anything to do with the Font issue. Howver, like the other users logging into that PC I can not produce that error here. Try disconnecting the mapped drive to projects directory for the user experiewncing the issue. If that doesn't stop the error, then more than likely this issue is related to the users profile. If fixing/replacing the users profile doesn't work, send me an email and I'll set up a gotomeeting to assist. (brad.eiler@dot.state.fl.us)

  • Thanks for the response, Brad.

    You miss-read my post - it *DOES* fail for the other user profiles on that pc. If it did not, I would have already rebuilt the profile. Since it appears to be global to the pc, I am trying to avoid rebuilding Windows.

    I agree with your implication that this is going to be a Windows issue as opposed to a bar menu issue. What I'm thinking the issue might be is an unregistered .com/.dll.

    Maybe you could help by helping determine which is the offending mdl - I find it quite disturbing that the ustat error is not identifying the offending mdl. Next would be to determine what COM's are being called out from that mdl to Windows. Sysinternals tools could maybe help with the latter. I think that triggering the error by manually loading the mdl may shed some light.

    (As a side question, is there a fairly easy way to look into some script or source code in the SS3 folder to see the list of mdl's used for the various menu choices?)

    Since the error occurs both on bar menu startup and Set Plot Scale menu choice, what mdl is common to both? Also, does SS3 have its own set of COM's that need to be registered on installation/repair? Maybe the registration is failing at that point. The user is reporting that the issue seems to have started with the SS3 install/upgrade.

    They are not using .pcf's so the PROJECTS directory is pointing to the default local C:.

    If you can help me with this idea, I'll try it first. If no luck, I'll get you into the pc.

  • On this computer, how was Microstation/GEOPAK or PowerGEOPAK installed? Did the PC have FDOTSS2 installed on it previously and was the versions of Microstation/GEOPAK or PowerGEOPAK for SS2 get over written by the new FDOTSS3 Microstation/GEOPAK or PowerGEOPAK installs? What version of FDOTSS3 do you have installed?

    We will probably need to do a gotomeeting, let me know when you are available. I tried to email you, but we do not have your current email address in our contacts list.
