Linked Data Manager "Cannot use object linking and embedding".

I am getting an error with LDM with the two error messages below that come up at the same time:

If I click through all of the errors, the file eventually opens, but obviously none of the linkages work.

This is on a machine running WIndows 10 Pro 64, Office 365 2016, and occurs in both SS2 and SS4. I am wondering if Windows 10 or Office 365 2016 has something to do with this issue.

The only other thing I can think of is the file paths as sometimes I work on the network and other times I copy this project local and work on it. But the paths in LDM don't appear to distinguish any file paths leading to the directory, only the path within the working directory, so that probably doesnt matter.

Thanks

  • The errors you are receiving are not related to the project directory since LDM works within the project as you mentioned. The project directory is determined using the _meta_info directory.

We have not tested our software with Windows 10 or the 2016 Office product. It is definitely a possibility (and most likely) that one or the other is causing the problem, however I cannot say for sure. It is a good possibility that the tool will need to be recompiled for those versions.

I'll see what we can do here to help determine the problem and get a resolution.

Just curious... Have you tried to load Office 2013 (or whichever version you were running before)?

  • Denise, it is more than likely one of those two things. I will try from the office in the morning and I am sure it will work on my Windows 7, Office 365 2013 machine.

I will let you know in the morning.

    Thanks
