We have several locations in our plans where we have notes referring to certain sheet numbers.
For instance: * SEE SUMMARY OF OVERBUILD (SLOPE CORRECTION) - CURVES (SHEET 25) FOR OVERBUILD TONNAGES.
When I revise the sheet numbers for my plans set, we have to remember where all of these notes are and update them manually.
I have been seeing this message for a while now when renumbering the sheets in Sheet Navigator and finally decided to figure out how to make this work:
Even when I have "Yes" selected, it never updates my notes. Im assuming I need to do something with the note for this work properly.
Could someone let me know what needs to be done or if this is even possible?
Thanks
Sheet Navigator has the ability to update sheet numbers in cases like that but it has to be properly configured and that note is too complex. It works best when the sheet number is at the end of the string.
The Sheetinfo.xml file located in the \FDOT2010\mdlapps directory on the server has search properties defined to look for text strings on sheets.
In the image you see SEE SHEET as one of the text strings so if you had SEE SHEET 25 as a note on a sheet and then renumbered using Sheet Navigator it would update 25 to whatever the new sheet number was.
In your example you could change:
SEE SUMMARY OF OVERBUILD (SLOPE CORRECTION) - CURVES (SHEET 25) FOR OVERBUILD TONNAGES.
To:
SEE SUMMARY OF OVERBUILD (SLOPE CORRECTION) - CURVES FOR OVERBUILD TONNAGES ON SHEET 25
Then add the text string to the Sheetinfo.xml file as shown below.
Could I also just break out that piece of text?
For example, one piece of text is: SEE SUMMARY OF OVERBUILD (SLOPE CORRECTION) - CURVES FOR OVERBUILD TONNAGES
Then, next to it or below it, another piece of text: SHEET 25
That way, I wouldnt need to edit the XML file for every instance of this that we would have in a project.

Yes, that would work as well. The key will be to word the notes consistently in all projects and set up the search criteria appropriatly.
I just attempted this for the first time and it didnt seem to work for me.
I have the text "SEE SHEET 23" sitting below the note it belongs to. The sheet number should have updated to 25 and it did not.
Does this have to be a data field or something else, or can it just be text, placed using the Place Text tool?
It can be text. Is it a single line of text or part of a multi line text? Does it have the quotes around it in the DGN file or was that just to identify it in the post?
It is just a single line of text by itself. It does not have quotes around it, just to identify.
