Is there a recommended browser?

I'm currently using FireFox ESR (31.7.0) to view these forums and there are a number of aspects that seem rough around the edges in the way things layout, the way they draw and also in terms of performance. For instance, last night, when attempting to insert a jpeg into a post, I clicked on the add image button and just saw a white pane across my page with the above pictured text. It persisted for several seconds so I just assumed the feature was completely broken. As it turns out it's just slow to display.

I am wondering if there is a recommended browser where some of these issues might be mitigated or minimized?

Thanks.

  • Communities is supported on all the major browsers (in fact, I use current commercial releases of Chrome and Firefox and IE interchangeably all the time, mainly to ensure similar user experiences). The situation you describe has been described by a few others, but a cause has not been tracked down. This could be due to latency on the site (that can be localized) or even could be caused by security settings on your browser (for instance, if you look at the URL for the page you are on when you see this, does it start with http:// or https://). This is likely to require some additional investigation, so please feel free to contact me when you see this and we can take a look at this together.

  • Hi Phil,

I'm not entirely sure that local network issues are not to blame. I also have a lot of trouble with Lync, but that said, not much trouble with other external sites.

As for what shows, http:// or https://; neither, but I think my browser is simply hiding the http://

I'll keep an eye on it and get back to you if I need to.

    Thanks!
