HTTP/HTTPS issues with SSO

I am unable to access communities some pages as the page stucks in endless loop. There are issues when opening http links while I am logged in bentley site using https. If I open links to communities from email notification which has http it doesn't work but if I replace it by https then page opens. Seems it doesn't correctly forward to https.

examples:
communities.bentley.com/.../99075
communities.bentley.com/.../99075

Also I see warning that browser has blocked parts of the page which are not delivered trough secure connection.

See the attached video how to reproduce this issue. It is not normal workflow as typically this happens if following links from email notification or from google results. It happens only for some pages.

  • Issue with infinite loading is again back. Please check my profile as also I am not able to access software downloads.

  • Oto, can you clarify what you mean by "infinite loading"? Are you encountering a specific error when trying to access Software Downloads? Has there been any recent change that you are aware of that could impact your Bentley account?

I checked your Bentley account and you do not appear to have the download permission. This is some thing your Site Administrator would need to assign to your account. See:  How do I find my Administrator?

  • Are there perhaps multiple email addresses involved here? Please send me a private message with the email address you are trying to use.

For the "infinite loading", can you elaborate? You appear to be able to respond to this forum thread (or are you responding via email?). Please provide details/steps/screenshot if possible.

  • I have only one email. There was issue before with my profile that it was linked to two sites by mistake so it caused issues.

I am able to respond with the this corrupted profile by restarting browser then it goes back to normal. It is hard to explain as the infinite loading is just a blank tab which shows spinning circle and no network activity or anything is recorded. Such issue I have only noticed with Bentley communities and it makes both Firefox or Chrome to act like this. Seems it is issue with server on lower level as browser doesn't seem to even get response nor a timeout is triggered.
Today it is normal because even that I left computer to sleep the browser was closed so it is fresh start even that forum tabs were left open.

  • Just tried with Internet Explorer 11 and similar issues happen. Seems related to tabbed browsing, when multiple forum tabs like 5 tabs are open the Explorer gets unresponsive with 100% CPU usage. At least Explorer detects unresponsive tabs and allows to restart them.

  • Hi Oto,

Thanks for the details. I use Communities in five or more tabs at the same time on a daily basis with Chrome and Edge and have not experienced this issue. You are not experiencing the unresponsiveness with multiple tabs in other browsers? Can you confirm that your computer has adequate free memory at the time this occurs? (check in Task Manager)

  • adequate free memory

How do you do that in Windows 10/11? Free RAM is wasted RAM it is never kept free as in old DOS age.

Try in Internet Explorer 11 and ignore that it is unsupported browser just test the page as there are no such issues opening multiple tabs for other pages.

Regarding memory other tabs work still ok while the Communities are not responding. Seems what triggers it is when tabs are left open for previous seession, then computer put to sleep and next day I open not the existing tabs but try to open another tab from following link in email or doing google search and opening link from there. Then it opens new empty tab and just loading forever without actually loading anything. Today again I opened browser with saved tabs and no issue.
