personal blog

can I have my personal blog to share knowledge in Bentley communities?

Parents
  • hi Jesse,

I'd like to share common issues I've been running into and solutions I found, here are a few examples...

    a. how to publish mobile i-models with all app-specific & mws-specific intelligence retained for Navigator CE

    b. how to build microstation sdk examples with Win 10 & Visual Studio 2017 community installed (it doesn't work out of box)

    c. how to speed up managed workspace performance

    ...

    Mark

  • Thanks, Mark. That is great that you would like to share some best practices. It might be best to include such content along with all the other support solutions (wiki articles) within the respective product community Wiki, for the best chances of other users finding the content. I will discuss this with my colleagues and get back to you. In the meantime, here is a Peer Blog for you: Mark Gao's Blog

Just to be sure I understand, your content would be for Navigator and MicroStation? Have you taken a look at the MicroStation and Content Management/Publishing Wikis to make sure there aren't any existing articles to address the things you intended to write about? (though I understand you might have a different angle to write about)

  • Jesse,

Out of habit I still use the old Peer Blog area, should we be moving away from this?

  • Hi Bear, you can still use the Peer Blogs (that's where I created Mark's new Blog). Peer blogs are no longer created automatically upon new account creation, and may be a little harder for other users to find since we have focused on placing helpful content within the Product communities (Wikis and Blogs), but if you have a Blog that has already gained some traction and is well-used, I don't see any reason not to continue using them.

With that said, I will still plan to discuss this topic with my colleagues to see if there might be a better way to enable power users such as yourself to create valuable content in a place that gets the most "eyes". Stay tuned, and thank you for your interest and your contributions.

  • Thanks Jesse, I've got a bit of content to go up soon so let me know either way.

  • No problem. There's no harm in posting it on your peer blog for now. If we find a better option, we could always move the content.
