New MicroStation Ideas Portal issues

The new Ideas Portal doesn't remember any of the comments I made and also doesn't remember that I voted on any specific ideas.

All of the Ideas I submitted are listed as submitted by Guest.

The Recent tab is basically useless because all of the ideas have a submitted dates from Jan 25 to Jan 27, except for one dated Jul 23.

All previous comments on all ideas are gone. This is a major problem since there were many constructive comments!

  • Hi Ron, as you have noticed, we recently migrated the MicroStation ideas to "Aha!" There are benefits of using this new system (expect more information soon) and we made every attempt to migrate the existing ideas. We will look into the problem with your old posts - it may be related to the account/email that your Communities account is associated with.

The previous comments are still retained via linking to the related legacy idea (they still exist, but are read-only), but this may be for internal reference only. I am consulting with my colleagues in the MicroStation team about this - expect a follow up response soon.

  • Jesse,

    Thanks for the reply.

Here are some more issues I have noticed

    • Only one of my ideas is listed in a category.  I'm sure I specified a categories when originally I submitted each of my ideas.
    • It looks like there have been nearly 600 ideas submitted, but only 40 of them are categorized.  Is that really correct?
    • The filter My Votes doesn't return any of the ideas I had previously voted on.
    • The Category Tool Tips are blank when you hover over the question-circle icon.

    Cheers,
    Ron

  • Hi Ron, thanks for the additional feedback. I have passed this along to my colleagues who are managing the new Ideas system - expect a response soon.

  • Hi Ron,

As Jesse has mentioned we appreciate your observations with MicroStation Ideas forum since the migration. Rest assured we are looking into these issues and are actively working to make the necessary changes. Please stay tuned.

  • Another suggestion for the Ideas forum:

Please improve the way the iframe (from aha.io) operates.

The way it currently works on my display (1920x1200) is I see 2 scroll bars.
When my cursor is outside of the iframe it scrolls only the webpage, but not the iframe.
When my cursor is inside the iframe it scrolls only the iframe, but not the webpage.

This is a very cumbersome setup and can lead to the user not seeing everything.

The way I think it should work:
If the cursor is inside the iframe and you use your scroll wheel, when it reaches either end of the iframe scroll range, it should scroll the webpage.

Alternatively you could eliminate the scrollable function of the iframe and just display all 10 entries completely, with no need for an iframe scroll bar.

    Regards,
    Ron

  • Hi Ron, regarding the iframe scrolling issue - I adjusted the iframe height to 2000 pixels to prevent the inner scroll bar.
