When attaching images default resolution is 320x240 can this be increased? It is too small and not everyone notices how to change it afterwards.
The default size of images being inserted into a post is meant to be small. This is because the image you are seeing is actually a thumbnail; it's not the full image that's small, only the preview.
This is so that when constructing posts, users can insert images of any size conveniently without having to resize their oversize image smaller to fit on the page. The image is inserting as a thumbnail. When the post goes live, the thumbnail image is what is shown. You can simply click on the thumbnail to see the full image.
Unfortunately the default cannot currently be changed (a plugin called TinyMCE is used). If you would like to insert the full size image instead of the thumbnail preview, clear out those default dimensions, press the tab key and the full size image will be inserted.

320x240 is too tiny by any modern standards. Such small screens no longer exists, bandwidth saving is also not possible as have to open full size anyway.
Yes I agree. It is a thumbnail though, and you can see the full size by clicking the thumbnail. If you need to insert an image and show it full size, clear the dimensions and press tab before inserting. Unfortunately due to the third party plugin used in the version of the Communities platform, the default size cannot be changed at this time.
