Increase default image resolution

When attaching images default resolution is 320x240 can this be increased? It is too small and not everyone notices how to change it afterwards.

  • Hi Oto,

The default size of images being inserted into a post is meant to be small. This is because the image you are seeing is actually a thumbnail; it's not the full image that's small, only the preview.

This is so that when constructing posts, users can insert images of any size conveniently without having to resize their oversize image smaller to fit on the page. The image is inserting as a thumbnail. When the post goes live, the thumbnail image is what is shown. You can simply click on the thumbnail to see the full image.

Unfortunately the default cannot currently be changed (a plugin called TinyMCE is used). If you would like to insert the full size image instead of the thumbnail preview, clear out those default dimensions, press the tab key and the full size image will be inserted.
