General Community Posts\Updates

Hello,

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "general posts" and "Blog updates"? Do you mean information that applies across all Bentley products? The information on the communities.bentkey.com homepage (such as the top banner) is the main source of Bentley-wide communication on Bentley Communities. For other information, you would need to first navigate to the respective Community. For example the MicroStation Community within the Product Communities area would have updates related to MicroStation. 

https://www.bentley.com/newsroom/ would also be a good place to go for general news and updates.

If users want to post updates to their own blogs or share files. Where is the best place to post this?

Long ago, Bentley Communities was set up so that everyone automatically had their own personal Blog. Many of these still exist and can be access from the User Blogs and Files Community

It appears you have one such blog which you can access here. 

However, these are not currently exposed in such a way that other users can easily find your posts unless you link to your blog elsewhere. We can look into an improvement in this area. Any additional feedback or suggestions are welcome.

I believe we may have also had personal File galleries in the past but I don't believe they are available currently. You can try accessing the Files section of your profile here. You can also directly attach most files to a blog post using the Insert menu > "Image/video/file".

Jesse, I have updated and will be adding more updates to my blog and have been able to share these in the past. It would be nice if we had a general area where we could post this sort of thing going forward. Pity this sort of thing wasn't discussed before the updated site went live. Get the feeling this is just a support group now.

I'll make sure to add your input in the ideas that we can consider for future enhancements. We are launching a User Feedback Form wiithin the month and the goal is to capture ideas and feedback to help improve Bentley Communities.
