Are there any techniques that can be used to do a better job of searching these forums? I have searched forums using a specific word that I know I have used in an earlier post (or even my name) and come up with nothing or next to nothing, or I get way, way too much - and often still not get the post I'm searching for.
Why should we have to go to Google when there's supposedly a Search function right here? Why doesn't the on-site Search box work?

I thought I read something once here that you could enter "forum:programming" or something like that. Was that a different site cause I cant seem to find it again and didn;t write it down the first time.
"forum:programming" looks like "google speak". Is there something in particular you are looking for on this site?
Yes - I would like to limit the search results to a specific forum - in my example the programming forum. I guess I should have used "MicroStation Programming" in my example.
So to repeat, I would like to enter the search "view rotation forum=[Microstation Programming]" or some similar syntax so I don't see results from Ask Inga's blog or the main v8i forum.
And Yes, I know I have the pulldown option "Search Everything and Search Microstation Programming" when I first enter that forum but the option is gone after I do my first search. I then must use my browser's link to the programming forum to get back to the original page for my next search. Its very awkward.
This thread is a bit old, but there is a way (with the current site) to search just one community's forums. For the MicroStation Programming community, that would be:
