This may be a bit premature (and not taking into account bugs) but so far as one in a sea of users, I like the new forums. Though a little bit hard to find at first, the new layout and wealth of user perferences is great.
A couple of suggestions:
That's all, so far so good.

Not sure if Phil answered you, but in a forum's main page, on the right there is a big blue "New Post" button. Below that is:
Options * Email unsubscribe from this forumEmail subscribe to this forum... * Subscribe via RSS * Mark all read * Favorite this forum
It's "Favourite this forum" you want to click.

First I have to find what topic area I'm interested in and when I click that it takes me to a general "Home" page then I have to click on the forum tab to see the post. It's just a lot more tedious than the previous version and I see myself having a hard time finding things or getting frustrated and giving up because it takes to long to search for the information I want.

I agree entirely. Way too many clicks. Also deson't help that I can't see the Activity from the Home page when logged in.

I've noticed that as well. The top ribbon is too sensitive.
Ok, now I see it. But it don't exist for this forum. But for MicroStation V8i it's there.

:) bizarre, I have yet to come across a forum where it's not - including this one.

truckmann, I'm sure the importance of Groups will become more evident (I don't use em yet either), but anyway I think forum favourites is the way to go - I am finding it reasonably quick.
Wow, the feedback is comin in :)
Another suggestion/question: Is there a multi-quote feature?
Now I see the Add Forum to favorites for this forum also. Very strange, probably some cashing problems on my side then.....
Edit: When I click on the Tab Forum, it's not there. But if I click on the link "Be Communities feedback" on top of the thread list, it's there. Not very consistent behavior.
