I am not looking for any change to the Be Communities web UI.

This is exactly what I CANNOT make happen in ANY email system I have used: Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, Hotmail, Gmail , Google Reader or Thunderbird. This is because the email / RSS posts do not consistently retain the same "Message ID" when they are sent / posted. The "Message ID" is the way ALL email systems determine if individual emails / posts are part of the same Thread / Conversation. If the "system that is being used to host Be Communities" cannot do this then it must not be used by MOST other sites as THIS is the ONLY ONE I have encountered having this long-standing issue.

What has been done to provide something along those lines can be used by some email systems to "group" posts with a similar topic.That said, it is something that has been identified as "to be looked into".

Would it be possible to fix this problem? When subscribing to forums many of the threads come through as broken/different conversations in many email apps. I currently use Gmail only and find that the threads are often broken into multiple conversations even though the subjects are the same or are just preceded by Re:

As you can see I had to search for the quoted subject to find only those emails which pertain to this thread. I believe this is happening because subsequent replies are sent with different "Message IDs" which causes Outlook, Gmail and other email apps to incorrectly break the thread into different conversations. Of course this makes following threads difficult when the folder/label is sorted by date and its entire contents displayed.

It really doesn't matter that much as long it is one way or another. Now that I have figured out the filtering on the pseudo from email address (via. keyword in message header), the short Subject with only the Thread Title would be nice. This will help on reading email on portable devices (which by the way.. I'll start a new thread or find DavidG's on the subject of Browsers).

I have tried keying-off key words like XM, V8i & etc. in the pseudo email address:

Be Communities Feedback [admin@be.org]

MicroStation V8 XM Edition [admin@be.org]

MicroStation V8i - Programming [admin@be.org]

This does not work in Outlook 2003; I guess it is that all email actually comes from admin@be.org. I can use the keyword filter on the Message header and this works. I wonder if this would work for stuartw with RSS filtering?

I would like to go with the short Subjects and the pseudo email addresses.

I like the short subjects with only the Thread Title; if I can get my filters to work on the pseudo Forum / Sub-Forum email address. My filters were keying-off the Forum/Sub-Forum Title in the Subject it doesn't seem to work as a key-word in the address as well. I will try and figure out how to use the full pseudo email address for the filter and that should work.

Hmmm... we'll have a look at what controls the Subject -- any suggestions as to what you would like to see in it?

Not sure about the multiple sends on the same post, though. Is anyone else seeing this?

Another somewhat related issue, it appears I am receiving multiple email notifications of the same post. I am nearly positive this is the case as I have read a few threads today with only two posts; yet I have been linked to these same threads three or four times from email subscriptions.
