Activity Widget doesn't show all activity

I have noticed a trend that the activity widget tab "People and Groups" doesn't show all of the activity of the groups I am in, just some of it.

Thanks,

Jordan

  • There are five "types" of communities:

    1. Joinless: Membership will not be tracked and permission to the group will be managed using site-level roles.
    2. Public (Open Membership): Everyone can read your group, it is listed publicly, and any registered user can join it without approval.
    3. Public (Closed Membership): Everyone can read your group, it is listed publicly, and users must be approved before becoming group members.
    4. Private (Listed): Only members can read your group, it is listed publicly (title and description), and users must be approved before becoming group members.
    5. Private (Unlisted): Only members can read your group, it is not listed publicly, and users must be approved before becoming group members.

Activity in the "People and Groups" tab (as well as the "Groups" tab) will only show ip if you joined a community, which does not include the "Joinless" type, since, well... you do not have to join that type of community :). Is it possible that the groups where you are NOT seeing activity in that tab are joinless? IOW, you do not see a "Join this Group" or "Leave this Group" link on the right hand side of the community homepage (to the right of the community name and description)

  • So, in other words, I can't see the activity in for Building Analysis and Design in the People and Groups Tab. Favoriting the community does not allow you to see activity on the widget?

It would be nice to have a tab in the activity widget for favorite groups.

That is correct... the widget in its current form only shows activity in communities that you have to join -- the only way the system knows that you are associated with a community.

Interesting idea... we will bring that up with the system developer to see what might be possible. Thanks for the input!
