CONNECT Edition Training Issues

I'm starting to work through some MicroStation CONNECT edition training from the LEARNserver and am running into some issues.

Working in the "Introducing the MicroStation CONNECT Edition" workbook, one of the initial steps says to set the Active Workspace to "Example" then 5 WorkSets should be available to choose from - "Building", "Civil", "General", Geospatial", and "Plant". However, the only WorkSet option I'm getting is "MetroStation".

Another instance is when working in the "Creating Workspaces" workbook. The first step says to open CONNECT and choose "BentleyCONNECTTraining" from the Workspace drop down, but I don't see that option. Is there a way to browse to certain workspaces that are contained in the practice datasets, or is there an initial set-up step that I've missed where this Workspace would have been created?

I'm sure there's a simple and obvious solution, or just something that I've missed, but I'm just not finding any of these options that any of the practice workbooks are telling me to choose.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Paige

  • Hello Paige

    Glad you found the courses!

The first issue was based on an earlier build of MicroStation CONNECT when those Examples (building, etc.) still existed. We will update the manual to reflect the change to a single Example dataset.

The second issue can be addressed by downloading the dataset for this course. It should be available to download on the first page of the course and there will also be unzipping and installation instructions.

    Hope that helps!

  • Well I've downloaded and unzipped the dataset that goes with the course, but when I open CONNECT, the WorkSpace that the course is telling me to open isn't listed. It only lists "Example". Is there a certain place I need to save the dataset in order for MicroStation to find it? Or is there a way within MicroStation to browse to an existing WorkSpace if it doesn't show in the given list?

It doesn't look like the dataset comes with a BentleyCONNECTTraining configuration file (like there is for the Example Workspace). The dataset I download comes with the course PDF, a Worksets folder, and a Standards folder. Should I just move the contents of those folders into the "Example" workspace within my Programdata folder on the C: drive, and continue the course using the Example workspace?

    Thanks,
  • I guess the BentleyCONNECTTraining workspace is also needed for the roadway design courses. So (unless those courses are also out of date), I want to make sure I know how to navigate to the correct workspace, or figure out why the suggested one doesn't appear in the list, even after downloading the dataset.

    Thanks again in advance,

    Paige
