can't get lineweight overrides to plot

I am trying to use level overrides on a reference file to get it to plot correctly. There are linestyles in the reference that are at the wrong scale, and the wrong lineweight, so I am trying to use overrides to correct both of those. Both the scale and weight overrides appear correctly on my screen. The problem, however, is that the lineweight override does not plot. The scale override plots correctly, but the lineweight does not. Can someone walk me through how to fix this? I am using IPlot on microstation V8i (SS10) version 08.11.09.916. I have attached a simple file to show what i am talking about. There are 3 pictures in the file. The first pic is a microstation screenshot of 3 lines as they show up in the reference. The second pic is a microstation screenshot of the 3 lines with scale and weight overrides turned on. The third pic is a plot showing how the scale override plotted correctly but the weight override did not.

create cut and fill volumes won't give me a volume

I have 2 terrain models I am trying to use the "create cut and fill volumes" tool on. The tool creates an element, but I can not get the volume from it. When I try and measure it, it says "cannot measure volume of this element" I have attached the file with the 2 terrain models. Can someone let me know why this doesn't work and if there is a way to fix it?

Inroads SS4 cross section elevation limits

I am trying to create "sheet" cross sections in SS4. I have a reference file with 3D pipes that I want to show up in the cross sections. For some reason I can only create "stacked" sections when this file is referenced, and it gives me a lower elevation of -8600 ft, and an upper elevation of 8590 ft. I have checked the reference file and I can't find anything near those elevations that it should pick up. I don't see any way to set high and low elevation limits in the create cross section dialog box (like there is in the "controls" options in the create profile dialog). Is there a different way to do this?

clipping not being honored in reference

I am using the clip volume tool to cut a section through my model. I set the extents I want to see in my model file by clipping the references, I then did a clip volume to cut the section, and created a saved view. Here is what the saved view looks like:

but when I now reference the saved view, the reference clipping is not being honored. This was working for me on the 3 previous sites I did, but is not working now. does anyone have any ideas? Here is what the saved view looks like when I reference it into my detail sheet:

save settings not working

for some reason save settings is not working in my files. I am turning off levels in one of the referenced files, and do a save settings, but everytime I open the file, these levels are back on. I have tried doing the "set refloverides on" through the key in, and then saved the settings, but this doesn't hold either. every time I open the file back up, the levels show back up and "set refloverides" is turned back to off. does anyone know of something I can try next?

can't get my plot to look right

I am having trouble getting my plot sheet to look the way it is showing on my screen. all of the patterning was created in element templates and applied to components and solids. The elevation view is just a saved views of the clipped volumes. It looks ok on my screen, but when I use Iplot to create the pdf, some of the lines and patterns are showing up too dark. Also now my dimensioning is not printing. I have attached two files as an example. One pic shows the drawing, and how it looks in microstation, and the other is the pdf of the plot sheet

Inconsistent response to tentative snap

I have long felt that tentative snaps were behaving inconsistently. I can't speak with much authority on the history of this, but I've only begun to notice this since my first sessions of using Microstation SS3 in January 2015. (I sense that this tentative snap behavior is a contributor to some the .NET framework errors I've encountered, like http://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/f/5922/t/105575.) (That alleged connection is probably invalid as I haven't seen that error in a while, but I'm still seeing this behavior on SS4 .878 as of 10/13/2017.)

Today, I have made repeatable observations. Using Geopak SS4, .845.

In my button mappings, I have my middle mouse button set to Tentative. AccuSnap is deactivated, so that in order to snap to anything, I have to do the middle button.

Given more than at least one potential point in a file to snap to, there are two behaviors observed:

Doing a tentative snap on the first point, then doing a tentative snap on a second point, the tentative snap moves to the second point.
Doing a tentative snap on the first point, then doing a tentative snap on a second point, the tentative snap remains at the first point. You'll have to do a reset (right-click, in my settings) in order to snap to any other point.

The tentative snap behavior observed depends on the active tool, which is surprising and inconvenient.

The following tools (an incomplete list) belong to a set where tentative snap can skip immediately from one snap point to another:

removing component materials in SS4

how do I get rid of materials that are attached to components in inroads SS4? I have checked 'element -> element templates -> components' and there aren't any materials attached to the components I am using. When I view the model in 3D with the display style as "smooth shadows" it is showing all my components with materials attached to them. Is there a way to change this?

tentative snap not working

Does anyone have any idea why my tentative snap won’t switch from one point to another? You know how if you are using tentative, you can keep pressing it, and it will cycle through a bunch of different points, until it lands on the one you want, and you accept it?

If I start the place line command (or any other command for that matter), as soon as I tentative to any point, it locks on it, and won’t move. I basically have to reset to get it off the point.

This just started doing this recently. No one seems to know why. Has anyone else had any problems with this?
