I have a problem regarding on how to assume the support as you can see in the attached file. i am analyzing a scaffold which is box tied scaffolding at an existing structure my problem is how to assume in staad regarding its support as u can see in the figure the scaffold can be done in site. My problem is how would i make the STAAD analyze it assuming that the existing rectangular structure is rigid(it is not my concern the capacity of the existing structure, only the scaffold). my problem is how to analyze it in STAAD when there is no option for this kind of support (box tie).

(Hope also in the near future STAAD would also make codes for Scaffolding or STAAD that is specially for scaffolding BS EN12811-1) (Just a suggestion.)

We have a project basically it is a temporary roofing which consists of Aluminum Beams (Scaffolding Materials), now my concern is our client wants the scaffold structure to be lifted using crane, I made the Geometry and inputted all the necessary components in it, now when I run the analysis it says instability, what I did is I add in the corners using support that only resist lateral (X & Z Forces), now my question is in the actual when we lift the scaffold structure, there will be no support that would resist X & Z, will this analysis be acceptable? because if I don't put any support that would resist X & Z in STAAD it will show instability. Are there any approach that is much better than this?

as you can see i inputted a sample beam in staad pro connect edition. it is a 5m beam tube is 48.3mm diameter and 4mm thickness with a yeild stress of 142000kN/m2 and has a load of W = 0.225kN/m. now when i use the code i set the DFF = 360, Fy = 142000kN/m2, ratio = 1.0, then inputted CHECK CODE. When i ran the STAAD it tends to be safe in the unity check. well that's impossible because the local deflection is 32.116mm and the allowable is 5000/360 = 13.8mm but in the unity check it says it passed. Im just trying to study more about the program. maybe there is another way to automatically check the defection. i am trying to prove that the program will automatically tell me if the member has failed due to deflection because sometimes we are dealing at a massive structures and check it individually takes time.
