Silent install of Microstation V8i Series 3

I just wanted to point out that the documentation for the deployment image (Microstation V8i Series 3) is wrong. It states that you can only change the setup to full UI or Reduced UI. I foolishly believed this for a long period of time and set out to find my own workaround to make it install completely silently.

When creating a deployment image, if you select advanced options, you can select SILENT install. How that information was left out of the help files is beyond me.

I realize that the quick install guide does say:

"/qnui": Installs the application in silent mode.

However, that command line switch is silent until the final window pop up where you have to select finish...not exactly silent IMHO.

Uninstall all previous versions of projectwise?

Within my company there are many computers who have gotten behind on bentley updates. In order to get everyone upgraded to the newest releases, I was wondering if there is an uninstaller script or .exe that will remove any previous version of projectwise or microstation in particular. I will post any findings that I come across or create myself to help others.

V8i Series3 - Silent installation - Return code?

Hi,

I have setup a silent installation to push V8i out to our customers silently using a remote deployment tool (PDQ Deploy) The installation happens without any problem but my software tools leave the task running even after the application is installed as is doesn't appear to return a successful/complete return code. Its is possible that I haven't set the correct return code up in the package deployment task.

Success/Return codes I have are - 0,1641,3010

I am using 'setup.exe /qnui'

Any assistance would be grateful.
