Civil Designer, Autocad/Land Desktop/Civil Design/Map, ArcGIS, Civil 3D and Geopak Power Civil user. My first experience with Bentley products was when I started using Power Civil in August of 2007. I had zero background in Microstation so learning Power Civil has been a long process and I am still limited in the basics such and setting up sheets, annotation, Microstation configuration.
I attended Diablo Valley college in Pleasant Hill, California for basics in mechanical engineering and transferred to University of California, Berkeley campus in my junior year. I had a change in goals and left M.E. for the christian ministry then moved to North Dakota in 1982 and began my career in civil engineering as a rod man on a survey crew for a survey/engineering consultant. That led to office work doing mapping and civil projects. Eventually I met a farmer developing farm equipment and did mechanical design and drafting for about 8 years after which I went to work for a surveyor doing mapping and small civil and GIS projects. From there I moved on to the local city engineering dept. creating construction documents for city projects.and developing a GIS for the city. I left North Dakota in 2005 to work for a small civil engineering and land planning company in Sedona Arizona where I am now. I'm now serving as a pseudo cad manager, civil designer and GIS tech for commercial, subdivision and forestry management projects.
Overall I have 35 plus years (and counting) in the civil, mechanical, surveying and GIS fields.
