New mechinal process for sprinkler pipe

There is a new mechanical process in the sprinkler industry. In Netherland they call it Springpipe. There will be no welding proces with a stub end but a melt proces with the right dimensions. And there will be no material lost. The material will be pulled into the pipe. The process wil be created in a fabric and the dimensions center to center must be 100% good modelled in the design file. This mechanical process is FM approved. So the machine will process it well. And the threaded pipe diameter can be done automatic in the process.

There is no command in OpenBuilding to create this sprinkler connection. So if I place a spinkler in the pipe, there will be no connection between them. This is also new process for Revit. So if OBD can do this, it will be the very first one to create this connection.

The image will show the pipe that is created "Springpipe".

Grid systems / Arc grid systems / Not standard grid

In Grid systems menu there is a possibity to import XML files. But I receive IFC or RVT files. And mostley there is a grid IFCGrid. Is it possible to import this IFCGrid into OpenBuilding and also the levels of the floor in the floor manager. Because this information is already in the file. And this is the I of BIM. And when the grid is not horizontal or vertical. How to create this grid system.

Openbuildings Connect Edition is slower than V8i for the same computer?

Hi, I'm comparing the Connect Edition version (10.10.00.199) and the V8i version (8.11.09.866) on the same computer. On the same computer and with the same model delivered.

With Connect Edition everything seems slower. My computer is not very current but it meets the requirements for Connect Edition except CPU does not have AVX instructions. RAM 24 gb Nvidia K4200 4gb graphics card and Windows 10.

Update view V8i 2 seconds CE 15 seconds (CE needs 650% more time) See attached image.
Wall place tool V8i 3 seconds CE 9 seconds (CE needs 200% more time)
Door place tool V8i 2 seconds CE 7 seconds (CE needs 250% more time)
etc.. everything is slower in CE

Has anyone verified that their computer is slower with CE than with V8i?

Can I do anything to improve CE speed (besides buying a new computer)?

Missing Sheet index toolbar

Place a lot of Flexibles in OpenBuilding

Hello All,

Is there a way to place fast 300 flexibles in a design file.These are flexibles connecting sprinklerheads. An I have to place this in 5 floor.

So that is 1500 flexibles. So this is a very time consuming command.

The pipe is has a slope 1:500 and the Sprinkler pipe has the same length. (TY5235)

OpenBuildings designer - LumenRT

I use LumenRT from OpenBuilding and also IFC from third parties. My question is, when open LumenRT, and click on an element of IFC (iModel) I see the element information for example colom HE240. But when I click on my own OpenBuilding dgn, I don't see the information only the level where it is placed. Which data I have to fill in to see the information of the pipe in LumenRT.

I have installed OBD update 9 version 10.09.02.36 and while installing you may change the configuration to another drive on my network. Just followed BIM Management 301: Installation and Upgrade Guide OpenBuildings Designer on Bentley learn site. But when I followed the video of "Using the Configuration Explorer to Redirect the Default Seed Files" I couldn't use the "Configuration Explorer Connect Edition" because I get an error (I have created a service request for this, and it is under investigation). I want the Workspace split from the Worksets. Because I want the Worksets only for designers. And the Workspace only for the CAD manager. The app was good for version before 10.09.02.36. But now it doesn't work anymore. Which the configurations settings I have to change manually and which configuration settings I have to modify to split the Workspace and workset. Because when using the "Configuration Explorer Connect Edition", this will sets all automaticly. And it's now not woking well

Create new Catalog for Plumbing fittings

I want to know how to create new catalog for plumbing fittings like elbows, Tee, Rigids. Is there a tutorial to create this, Because the catalog that is standard installed with OBD has not the right dimensions. For example. DN100 is 114.3mm DN80 is 88.9mm DN50 is 60.3mm DN150 is 168.3mm

And when I want to connect a Tee the length of the TEE is not right. And when I select a flat cap, the dimension is not right. When I select a flat cap, the dimensions is not right.

So I want create catalog only for sprinkler installation. Because my client only use one specifaction of the pipe. And when I want to use threaded fittings these have also the wrong dimensions.

These dimensions are very important, because I design for execution of the projects. Not a preliminary design.

So if I can create these right fittings, Maybe another designer also want to use OBD.

Please send me a tutorial video to do this step by step.

Clip Volume Settings

Mechanical IFC to OpenBuidldng Design

Is there a way to translate Mechanical IFC to native OpenBuilding design file. So I can modify duct work or piping. Because if you link an IFC file to OBD all the sizes are shown in the properties. Is there any wizkid can make a tool to for this question? And when it is translated and modified, you can make a IFC again for the BIM proces.
