Not copying an object as a feature definition from a reference survey file?

Hello,

I have a survey file referenced into my working file and every time I copy something such as an existing sign symbol, it brings in the symbol as a point definition with an ID number and rotated.

I just want the graphic as it is shown. Is there a way to not let it does this?

I'm using OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition - 2019 Release 2 Update 7 - Version 10.07.03.18.

Attaching a pen table while selecting "monochrome", "grey scale" or "true color"

I created a pen table to grey out or subdue certain levels on my plan sheets. For example, I wanted to grey the edge of pavement level.

Does anybody know why it only works when I select "true color" and attach the table? If I select "monochrome" or "grey scale" and attached the pen table it doesn't work.

In theory it should work right? The pent able is telling them to subdue certain levels so it doesn't matter what I selected. Am I not getting when to use true color, grey scale, and monochrome?

Also does anybody know why I can not change the color (to black) of the stock line styles that come with CONNECT. For example the double solid yellow strip pavement marking lines.

Its in the yellow pavement level but you cannot change the color. Even when you print and select "true color" and attached a pen table to back that level it out. Only time it works is when you

print "grey scale" and even then it comes out in grey. And again I can't use a pen table to change it back to black. If I print it in "monochrome" then they will all be in black and again I can't use a pen table to

change anything back to grey if I want.

I'm think I'm not grasping the concept here. I've been playing around, mix and match, testing it for hours now.

Some pdf sheet seems darker and more bold

Hi everyone,

Something that has been bugging me but I don't know how to fix it...yet?

I printed a PDF set of let say roadway striping and some of the sheet seems darker are more bold.

I checked each sheet model and none of them are referenced in twice or anything like that.

I checked the line for overlapped but nothing. Anybody know the reason?

I'm using Microstation CONNECT.

Referencing and Changing Scale Question

HI everyone I'm back with a question.

I have a sheet model opened with a border. I have referenced in the base files, but every time I changed the scale (detail scale) of the base files to make them smaller of bigger to fit the border it move away from the border. Is there a setting to prevent them from doing this? I have to constantly go find it again and move it back into the border.

Hello Again!

I have another quick question again.

I have created 20 sheets model in a single file. In the default model is where I have referenced in all the base files.

Each base file has has five nested files. For example the geometry reference file has nested files of different alignments, etc.

My question if I go to the default model, turn off a level of a nested file, or turn off a file somewhere...it seem logical that it should be reflected on all the sheet models. However I find that they do not and I find my self going through each sheet model and make the same changes again and again.

Is there a setting in the default model that will help make this process faster. I tried control F (save setting). It seems not to be working.

Please advise. Thank you!

Custom Lines styles not looking correctly on my sheet models.

Hello friends,

I've created a custom line style--for example--the 10' dash 30' skip roadway striping.

I created it by just drawing a 10' line and 30' skip so in the default model with annotation scale Full Size 1=1 you can see it clearly.

In the sheet model properties, when I set it to "annotation scale", I can't see the line style. Its probably too big. But when I set it to "global line style scale" and set it to like .0020, I can see it property.

The same line style that comes with ORD and other ones seems to work when I set the sheet model properties to "annotation scale". But the one I have created on my own is not working. Anybody know why? Am I missing a step when creating the custom line styles.

Named Boundary Sorting and Sheet Creating's Naming Convention

Hi All,

I have a two-part question regarding the named boundary dialog box.

1. How do you sort these named boundary in the dialog box when you open it? I can't seem to do it by drag-and-drop them or find a button to do it.

2. Question number two is the way CONNECT named my sheet model. IF I had created a sheet model SHEET 1 and deleted it, it won't create a SHEET 1 on the next creation.

It will go to SHEET 2 even though SHEET 1 doesn't exist anymore. It's just tedious to me to keep renaming them.

Keymap Legend at the bottom of the sheet model in CONNECT

Hello All,

I have 20-30 roadway striping sheets and I want to create a key map legend at the bottom right corner somewhere. (I've seen it done on another project).

So as you flip through the sheets after you print them in pdf it shows roughly the location along the alignment of that sheet.

I have an idea but want to make sure if there is a easier or formal way to do it in CONNECT Thanks!

The way I thought about doing is make a cell out of the file with all the named boundary and place in on each sheet. You would go in a grey out a different named boundary in the cell depending where you are on that sheet.

How to adjust or modify named boundary?

Hi Everyone,

I just finished cutting and annotating my striping sheets with the named boundary tool. One particular sheet cuts into 1/8 of a turn lane so I want to modify the named boundary on that one sheet or the next sheet so that only either sheet shows the complete turn lane.

I was not able to do the adjustment on the sheet model or drawing model. Is there a way to do it or I'll have to restart in the design model where I originally started? Recreate the sheet from scratch. I don't want to re-annotate eveything.

Scaling Reference Base Files but only the Y-axis?

Hello community,

I'm doing roadway striping plans. I've referenced in the base files at 40 scale. Horizontally It captures the right length I want of my sheet model (Let say 400' so).

Vertically I want to exaggerate the roadway so It'll be better for other people to see. Is there a way to do it. I tired scaling the reference files but it

will scale both x and y axis. I don't want to add more sheets. I just want to scale the y axis of the reference files/base files. Thanks for reading!

Printing 1 Level in Color

I figured it out.

Here was my solution or one way to do it. I wanted to print a black and white pdf with the R/W line being a red color.

1. I created a new pen table. (In the print dialog, click >> Resymbolization >> New Pen Table >> Save (A modify Pen Table dialog appears).

2. In the "Modify Pen Table" dialog, Click Edit >> Insert New Section Above >> Give it a name (Non Color)

3. In the "Element Selection Criteria" tab under "Color option, specify the range of the color from the color table you want to stay non-color. Exclude the one you want stay color (67).

4. In the "Element Output Actions" under the "Color" option specify it "By Index" as 144. This is the grey color you want everything to be except 67 which is naturally Red.

5. When you print, Make your set the color option as True Color and you new Pen table with grey out everything except the color 67.

Station Annotation

How do I change the station annotation display below on this drawing model.

For example instead of showing station for everything 100' I want to change it to 500', etc.

Or the display offset, etc.
