clarification on wind load in STAAD PRO

The above link explains how to define a wind load using wind definition.

I have 2 comments/inquiries about it:

1) @ 5:12, the input was L=75 ft and B = 90 ft but the geometry @ 1:17 states that along Global X, L=90 ft and B = 75 ft. Please clarify this. I believe the input should be reciprocated for L and B windward and leeward directions but kept the same for the Sidewalls direction.

2) @8:33 For the sidewalls of the wind +X direction, the Building Length along the direction of wind should be (L=70 FT) & Building Length Normal along the direction of wind (B=90FT) as the wind acting on the sidewalls are normal to the windward and leeward direction and therefore the L,B are not the same as the windward and leeward.

in the above picture the tb, and td, where 6 and 8 mm while the maximum thickness of the imported section is 4mm .
can someone explain what is meant by tb, td, and why the thickness varies ?

I have an existing Column of 200x700 mm, I will connect a IPE 450 on top having 150 KN in tension .

I tried alot in the program but no reasonable solution came out.

offset command has a significant impact on reaction results

Hi,

I have added offset Y direction to the bottom beams 0.3 m to be more accurate to the site construction condition.

But I have found out a significant increase in the FX on the top support along with the moments.

(Nodes to check : 28,29,30,19,22,27)

Why the deflection check output is not stipulated in the output file

Hi,

I have a cantilever stair of which I want to check the strength +Serviceability

I have defined 2 envelopes (strength +serviceability) and inserted load list envelope 2 and DJ nodes for the required deflection check, but didnt see any deflection checks in the output file.?

What am I missing?

is there a way to add on staad double beams on the main IPE 500 beam as shown in the cad capture .

I want to duplicate the cold formed steel beams in the model and postion them at the lower portion of the IPE 500.

Long Span Cantilever

Hi,

I am designing a long span cantilever beam,

I just want to confirm that the bracing system if defined as truss functions as bracing resisting transverse loads only. ? When I tried to release (Fy, Mx, MZ,My) i got warnings .

Second,

I want to reduce the first fixed support capacity and distribute along the second, as the near to cantilever support is taking all the load and site conditions will not allow to have such a connection.

is there a way to reduce the load on one fixed support and transfer it to the second ?

How Can I not load a beam used only for bracing purposes

Attached STAAD File For a HANGAR , the bracing angles are being loaded by the live load.

How can I define these beams as bracing beams only and not let them get vertically loaded

Hi all,

Im designing a cold formed column, i was confused when the column fails when it's not segmented ( one beam from support to support) .

and

when segmented every 0.5m under the same loading passes ?

How is STAAD operating ? What is it considering the nodes to be ?
