RM Bridge

Hello,

In FEM Application Guide is stated:

Let us suppose:

-composite structure (steel and concrete)

-small element length in steel part of section (element 5 to 6 - bottom drawing) e.g. smaller than 2 cm

What is acceptable longitudinal subdivision of girder if we have in mind this small length of sheel element?

Have you any advice for modeling such geometry?

Regards

I have been trying to prepare model with FEM element for composite bridge. After I lot of failed trials and errors in my model I have tried to model one training example (Composite-basic-E-EC) using FEM. But also had a lot of errors.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/fos6zdmy8fb3esd/Composite%20basic-FEM%21gp.tcl?dl=0

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xv7v4bskmbgql6g/Composite%20basic-FEM.tcl?dl=0

I'll be glad if someone can give me solution for this.

Also, one general question, did RM bridge model with FEM of standard composite structure (2 I steel girder with reinforce concrete slab over them) provide good torsional stiffnes for assimetric traffic load? Does these results converge to resuls obtained by grillage analysis (or we can get better results with FEM in RM Bridge)?

Regards
