Variable Offset Taper: Two Remove Rules Listed

As shown in the screenshot below, there are two "Remove Rule" icons listed in the rules drop down for a variable offset taper. Both appear to do the exact same thing (drop the variable offset taper to a standard line string) which has me wondering what differentiates them?

Add Boundary to Terrain - No valid Entity

I have created a car park terrain using "Create from Elements" and want to cut it down to just the pavement area by adding an external boundary at edge of pavement. I have created a 2D boundary (Complex by Elements), but when I try to add it to the terrain as a boundary I get a "No valid Elements Selected" error. The message itself doesn't indicate why the element is not valid. Any help appreciated.

Being unfamiliar with Microstation, I have also tried creating a closed polyline in Autocad and bringing it into the DGN with Merge to Master. Attempting to add it as a boundary fails with the same result.

This is the error that I am seeing in Message Center.

BTW: I am using MX SS4 (02.11.09.879)

Equal Space Points tool issue

I'm attempting to place a series of 2D points using the Equal Space Points tool and upon doing so, keep receiving the "Element off design plane" error message immediately followed by the all too common program crash. I noticed it created a 3D model in my dgn even though I have the "Want 3d Point" field disabled. I ran through the motions a number of times to ensure I wasn't accidentally attempting to generate 3D points and can't figure out what's causing the issue. Below are screenshots of my tool settings and Power InRoads version number. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Old Rules Appearing in Profile

I have been updating some profiles which were orginally generated using the Profile by Slope form Element tool. The original plan elements have been joined together to form complex geometry before the old vertical alignment associated with the individual elements was deleted. Thus there are areas where the old profile appears, see the green dashed lines circeled in red in the screenshot. I cannot delete the old profiles because ORD thinks that no elements are selected. This is also the case if I use Drop Element or Drop Complex Status. The only way that I have been able to delete the old vertical profiles is to drop the new complex plan geometry and deleting vertical profiles associated with the individual plan elements. This is a time consuming process!

Is there a way to get rid of the old vertical geometry associated with the components that have been used to make the new plan complex geometry?

Is it possible to remove only one interval at a time?

I have intersection linework that is ruled to an alignment and one of the intersections is no longer going to be used. Is it possible to remove the gaps at the interval without removing all other intervals? This is in GeoPAK SS4

Horizontal Geometry: Replace Reference Best Practices

When attempting to replace the reference for Arc from Element and Line from Element horizontal geometry, I almost always receive the "Element off design plane" error message followed by a complete program crash. This issue results in a considerable amount of wasted effort so I'm hoping to determine what causes this and how it can be avoided. Any tips/best practices would be much appreciated

Apply a Scale Projection Factor to a proposed terrain

Hello,

I have created a complex proposed terrain model in Geopak SS4. In this project, we are using a Modified State Plane coordinate system and were given a projection factor of 1.00008696. I need to give the proposed terrain .xml files to someone using ArcMapGIS, but they are coming into GIS at the Modified State Plane (with projection factor), while the GIS file is in State Plane (no projection factor). Is there a way to apply the inverse scale factor to the terrain model, so that it can be brought into GIS in the correct location?

Vertical Geometry: Replace Reference Functionality

I may be missing something, but it doesn't appear there's a Replace Reference rule for vertical geometry like there is for horizontal geometry. I frequently use the Tangent Profile Line From Element tool and am unable to replace the parent/reference element which leads to me having to delete and reestablish that particular element as well as those adjacent to it. I'd be shocked if this functionality doesn't exist and was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Microstation VBA Help Location

I've seen a number of posts where people make reference to the Microstation VBA Help guide but am having a hard time locating it. There's almost nothing related to VBA in the Help directory within Microstation itself and when accessing Help from the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor, there doesn't appear to be anything Microstation specific. If someone could point me in the right direction it'd be much appreciated.

OpenRoads: Offset Element - Ratio Issues

I'm able to convert a single offset element to a variable offset by changing the ratio from 1:0 to 1:10 for example. However, I'm unable to revert to a single offset by entering a ratio of 1:0. I feel I'm overlooking something as it doesn't make sense for this functionality not to be bidirectional. FYI, I'm using Power InRoads v8.11.9.832. Any help is much appreciated

How to delete "elements" from complex profile

Hello,

I want to edit my complex profile. Say there are all tangents with certain grades eg: 0.50%, 1.5%, 4.0%, -2.0% in continuation.

I created these by "line between points" tool, made a complex profile out of it, assigned a name and a feature definition.

Now, I want to make a change. I want to delete the 1.5% grade tangent and continue the 0.50% to 4.0% and then insert a curve.

What is the usual way to achieve this in OpenRoads (PowerGeopak SS4)?

ORD - Complex Redefine Troubleshooting

Is anyone having issues with complex redefine not working for certain alignments? I need to replace a tangent section with two sets of reverse curves at each end of the new segment. The arcs were drawn per tutorial videos, tangent and all. The complex redefine won't work, it keeps the original tangent section along with the new segment. Should I be looking at the alignment settings for the original line in the explorer window?

Given that ORD doesn't have alignment editing commands that InRoads has, it's critical for redefine to function.

Replace/Redefine Civil Cell References
