I have recently come across some MicroStation fonts that cannot be edited with the Word Processor. This is in MicroStation V8i, version 08.11.05.17.

The fonts appear in my drawings, but when I try to make an edit to the text, the word processor shows up but it appears blank, as if I had not selected any text. I noticed that I can type text and it will make the change, but it's hard to edit text when you can't see what you are editing. Sometimes the program will crash when this happens.

These same fonts work normally if I edit the text using the Dialog Box instead of the Word Processor, so this is the work-around that I have to live with. Of course, this kind of thing drives the new MicroStation users crazy.

I am looking for a way to display area measurements in my drawings using MicroStation V8i. I would also like to have the option to convert units of area measured (for example, if my working units are feet, the measure area command would display areas in square feet, but I need to convert these to acres for the project I'm working on).

There used to be an mdl application called atool.ma (or atools.ma, I can't remember), but I would imagine that it wouldn't work for V8i.

The measure area command in MicroStation measures the area, but doesn't seem to allow the user to place the number in the drawing, the result is only displayed in the tool box.

thanks,

Chris
